What you are really hiring
A family lawyer is the person who will translate one of the most emotional periods of your life into workable legal terms: a separation agreement that holds up, parenting arrangements that fit your children's reality, support calculated properly under the Guidelines, and property divided the way Ontario law actually requires.
The hiring decision deserves the same care as the matter itself. Licensing is the floor — every Ontario lawyer can be verified in the Law Society of Ontario's public directory — but fit, focus and fee transparency are what determine your experience.
Five things to confirm before you retain
- Family law is a core practice area, not an occasional file
- You understood everything said in the consultation — and were invited to ask questions
- The fee structure is in writing: consultation rate, hourly rate, retainer terms
- They offered a settlement path (negotiation, mediation, agreement) alongside the court path
- You can communicate in the language you think in — our office serves clients in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Polish
How Ayoun Law runs family files
Family matters at Ayoun Law are led by Sabeeya Akram, a parent herself, whose practice is built on genuinely understanding the position your family is in before advising on it. Consultations are with the lawyer — first 15 minutes free, then $199 per half-hour — by Google Meet or at our Mississauga office at 25 Watline Avenue, serving families across the GTA.
The content of this website is legal information about Ontario and Canadian law, not legal advice. Reading it, or contacting us through it, does not create a lawyer-client relationship — that begins only after we confirm in writing that the firm is acting for you.
