When do you need to change a support Order?

  • The income of the payer has changed
  • Your income has changed
  • Your child’s circumstances have changed
  • Your child does not need support payments anymore due to a change in circumstances like he/she has finished school or they are reaching the age of 18

How to change a support payment in a domestic contract?

 Domestic contracts are negotiated between the two parties. The only real step is to have the section addressing support payments re-drafted with your lawyer and presented to the other party. Once you have the new contract it must be filled in the governing court either that be the Ontario Court of Justice or the Superior Court of Justice (Family Court).
