SABEEYA AKRAM

B.A., LL.B. Honours

“Deceive not thy physician, confessor, nor lawyer.” – George Herbert

Sabeeya Akram is one of the owners of AYOUN LAW. Her practice areas include Family & Civil Litigation.

Sabeeya’s interest in the law began from her father and mother’s influence for assisting disadvantaged young girls. As a result, Sabeeya starting volunteering and giving back to the community at a very tender age. She has provided free mentor talks for young girls before law school and continues to offer mentorship opportunities at her firm.

Sabeeya comes from a diverse legal background. She first started her career in legal matters surrounding Medical Malpractice. She was an avid volunteer at the Law Clinic for Medical Malpractice claims where her interest grew and she became chief editor of a Ontario, Canada wide study called, The Art in Medicine – Treatment Decision-Making published by McMaster University. She further became an advocate for a Medical Student movement for the American J1 visa requirements, where her unique legal and medical skills intertwined. She reached out to her local Member of Parliaments and Member of Provincial Parliaments and pressed for a change that ended in successful policy change.

After becoming a mother, she found her interests shift towards Family matters. She understands the emotional investment one makes for creating a family. She is a personable lawyer that fights for her client’s legal interests by genuinely understanding the family position her clients may find themselves in.

Whilst she loves being a lawyer, on Sabeeya’s free days, she loves hiking with her daughter, canoeing in rough waters, studying micro-economics and spoiling her family with surprise vacations.
